Ingredients:

    King's Hawaiian Furikake Mix:
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 stick butter, melted
  • ¼ cup nori komi furikake
  • 1 Loaf King’s Hawaiian® Original Hawaiian Sweet Sliced Bread
    Party Mix:
  • 1 Large Roasting Pan
  • ½ cup butter
  • ½ cup coconut oil
  • ½ cup sugar
  • ¼ cup honey
  • ¼ cup Karo® syrup
  • 3-4 tablespoons sriracha (optional)
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 2 boxes Rice Chex® Cereal
  • 1 bag salted pretzels
  • ½ cup nori komi furikake (1 average size bottle)

Preparation:

STEP 1

Leaving heels of bread out, cube sliced bread into popcorn-sized pieces. Let sit uncovered on the counter for at least two hours, or overnight if possible.

STEP 2

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Add staled bread into mixing bowl and pour melted butter over it. Use a spatula to gently toss bread cubes until well-covered.

STEP 3

Add sugar and furikake to bread cubes and toss gently to coat each piece.

STEP 4

Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper and spread cubes on sheet evenly making sure there is only a single layer. Cover top loosely with foil to prevent burning.

STEP 5

Place in oven for 10-12 minutes, rotating pan after 5 minutes and baking until golden brown and crisp. Remove any burnt pieces from outside edges as this may occur and set aside.

STEP 4

When all is melted together and sugar is dissolved, pour liquid mixture over Chex/pretzel mix and stir well.

STEP 5

Sprinkle furikake evenly over wet cereal and stir again.

STEP 6

Place in oven for 60-75 minutes, stirring every 15 minutes.

STEP 7

Chef's Note: You can control the heat of this dish by adding more or less Sriracha. You can also add other dry ingredients like nuts, rice crackers and other types of cereal.
